Partner Daniel Fleming served as a panelist for the Hudson Valley Bankruptcy Bar Association’s (HVBBA) 13th Annual Presentation, “The New Deal For Consumer Bankruptcy,” on September 30, 2016. The event was held at the Henry A. Wallace Visitor and Education Center of the FDR Presidential Library and Museum in Historic Hyde Park, New York. The panel, which consisted of Judges and Bankruptcy specialists, discussed Taxes in Bankruptcy, and covered the preferential treatment of taxes in bankruptcy and the issues taxes may pose for consumer debtors, including the dischargeability of income taxes and the First Circuit’s recent decision in Fahey v. Mass Dep’t of Revenue (In re Fahey), 779 F.3d 1 (1st Cir. 2015).
