Partners Linda Wong and Daniel Fleming and Associate Dafney Dubuisson Stokes attended DRI’s Diversity for Success Seminar and Corporate Expo

Partners Linda Wong and Daniel Fleming, and Senior Associate and Supervising Attorney Dafney Dubuisson Stokes, attended DRI’s Fourteenth Annual Diversity for Success Seminar and Corporate Expo last week. The event was held at the Sheraton New Orleans, LA, June 19-21, 2019. The seminar included an honest and frank conversation about the ongoing struggle for diversity and inclusion in the legal profession. The program also discussed strategies for overcoming the roadblocks faced by diverse law firm attorneys and for utilizing support from corporate friends in implementing those strategies.

The diversity luncheon featured keynote speaker Louisiana Supreme Court Justice Bernette J. Justice and presented the Sheryl J. Willert Pioneer Diversity Award to Joe Cohen, Partner of Porter Hedges. This award, named after Sheryl J. Willert, honors an individual DRI member in a law firm or corporation who has demonstrated that he or she embraces, celebrates and applies inclusion and participation of a diverse people whereby the legal profession, community and society is a better place in which to live and work.

Exclusive to DRI members, Friday’s Corporate Expo provided a unique opportunity for selected minority and women attorneys and their law firms to network and interview with corporations and insurance companies committed to diversifying their national outside counsel panels. The expo is a fantastic opportunity that provides cutting-edge ideas, interactive experiences and programs designed to assist diverse attorneys in their efforts to achieve real diversity progress.
