Celebrating Black History Month

February 1, 2023 | by Wong Fleming

Wong Fleming celebrates the first day of Black History Month, a time meant to increase awareness and understanding of the rich cultural heritage of Black Americans, and to celebrate the strength, resilience, and contributions of Black Americans throughout history. It also raises awareness about the ongoing struggles for equality and justice that Black people continue to face. By recognizing and valuing the diverse experiences and perspectives of Black people, Black History Month helps to promote cultural understanding and foster a more inclusive society.

The ABA 21-Day Racial Equity Habit-Building Challenge is meant to assist each of us to become more aware, compassionate, constructive, engaged people in the quest for racial equity. The assignments seek to expose participants to perspectives on elements of Black history, identity and culture, and to the Black community’s experience of racism in America. The syllabus is but an introduction to what they hope will be a rewarding journey that extends far beyond the limits of the project.
