Attorney Barron Stroud attended the Recording Academy, Washington, D.C. Chapter’s Business, Beats & Inspiration Symposium:  An Indie Guide to Making Money in a Digital World on Saturday, June 15, 2013.   The event was co-sponsored by the DC Bar Association’s Arts, Entertainment, Media & Sports Committee.   Attendees and panelists for the symposium included major recording artists, industry executives, and in-house legal counsel for record labels and licensing and distribution companies.

 

The symposium, presented by the Arts, Entertainment, Media & Sports Law Section of the DC Bar, included two Entertainment Law Panels: “The Continuing Battle Between Copyright Owners and Content Users,” and “The Future of Collective Licensing:  How will Direct Licensing Affect Sound Exchange, ASCAP & BMI.”

The Recording Academy, Washington, D.C. Chapter provides its members, who are musicians, music industry professionals and the artistic community at-large, with valuable professional development and member-specific networking opportunities.  The members have the opportunity to participate In The Mix and the GRAMMY Awards Telecast Viewing Party which provides an ideal platform to exchange ideas, music and conversation with other professionals.
